Picture hanging systems have been very popular in Europe for decades, to the point where they have achieved availability among mass market retailers.
In North America these same picture hanging systems have seen acceptance limited to libraries, galleries, universities, museums until recently. Now Americans have begun using these systems for their residential art hanging needs.
Such a system is usually made of a horizontal rail mounted on a wall from which is attached a
vertical rod or
cable. The last component of picture hanging systems are hooks, that connect art, or other objects, to the rods or cables. Alternately, you might find hanging systems made of piers, or stand-offs, in place the tracks. Many hanging systems appear contemporary in design, however some can fit nicely into traditional décor.
